WHAT IS THE SINGAPORE INTERIOR DESIGN ACCREDITATION SCHEME (SIDAS)?
The Industry Transformation Roadmap Development for Singapore’s interior design industry was commissioned by DesignSingapore in 2018.
The roadmap identified the need for industry regulation: to uphold Interior Design professionalism.
Spearheaded by the Society of Interior Designers, Singapore (SIDS), the Singapore Interior Design Accreditation Scheme (SIDAS) was developed to elevate the Singapore Interior Design profession.
By defining core skill sets and competencies to bridge the gap between education and practice, SIDAS aims to ensure high standards across Singapore.
Coupled with Continuing Professional Development (CPD), practitioners would have the opportunity to continuously upskill, network, and hone their Interior Design skills.

IMPORTANCE OF EMBARKING ON THE INTERIOR DESIGN ACCREDITATION THE JOURNEY TOWARDS PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION
The Singapore Interior Design Accreditation Scheme (SIDAS) is the national-level industry accreditation framework for interior designers in Singapore. It defines proficiency levels for practicing interior designers, ensuring they remain updated with the latest industry trends and skills. SIDAS also elevates the profession’s image, making it more attractive to new talent and helping to retain skilled designers. SIDAS enables clients to make informed decisions when selecting interior designers by offering a clear benchmark of qualifications and competence.
Furthermore, SIDAS provides access to regional and international opportunities through recognised accreditation frameworks like the Asia-Pacific Interior Designers’ Accreditation Program (AP-ID-AP). Initiated by the Asia-Pacific Space Designers’ Association (APSDA), AP-ID-AP is the first and only accreditation framework of its kind, recognising professional interior designers across the Asia Pacific region.
